Breif:

Choose a common misconception that interests you and find data that can be used to illustrate the truth about that misconception. Create a 45-60 second animation that visually communicates the misconception through Motion Design. Create your own graphics either in Photoshop or Illustrator and bring them to life in After Effects. Use the Motion design principles to build graphics and text in and out to music.

Your video should be 45-60 secs, 1920x1080, 24 fps.

Result:

The concept is based on the principle "less is more", focusing on playful and artistic pedagogy. By using fewer elements and colors, information absorption is facilitated for the viewer, which reduces the risk of overstimulation. The pedagogy is also reflected in design choices such as the checkered paper, which may evoke recognition from the school years for many. The goal was to create a video that balances between the artistic and the childish, and that appeals to a wider audience. This was achieved by combining photographic elements with illustrations, giving a more complex feel.

I used several motion design principles to create an overall harmonious feel. Applying the principles of timing and easing ensures smooth and natural movements. Color choices and typography were synchronized to create visual harmony, while consistent transitions and animations contributed to a unified expression. Balancing rhythm and dynamics creates an engaging and enjoyable experience for the viewer.
